On World AIDS Day (Dec 1), hundreds of grandmothers and grandothers across Canada participated in a nationwide series of #GrandmothersCampaign flash mobs to call the world’s attention to the scale of the global AIDS epidemic and the herculean role African grandmothers are playing in the response.
10,000 grandmothers in North America, Australia and the UK stand in solidarity with African grandmothers. They raise funds and awareness to ensure African grandmothers have the critical resources necessary so that a generation of their grandchildren have the opportunities they so deserve in life. African grandmothers are experts at the forefront of the response to the AIDS epidemic and are providing the love, care and attention their orphaned grandchildren need. They are vital to the survival of their communities!
