This description was written by Sheila Fahlman, the Regional Liaison for the Prairies.
The Prairies Region is comprised of the grandmothers groups in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Ranging from Swan River and Flin Flon in the north, to Brandon, Portage la Prairie and Winnipeg in the south, these grandmothers groups are actively raising awareness and funds in their respective communities.
The groups in the Prairies Region range from just a few members to more than 150 committed and passionate grandmothers and others. Hosting galas and potluck dinners, creating tote bags and others crafts, selling baked goods at local markets and Kazuri jewellery, and holding Scrabble tournaments, are just some of the ways groups in this region work in solidarity to support African grandmothers.
